Re-Enter The Crime Stopper

Of course, I came across this little bit of news mere minutes after completing the "odds and ends" post from last night...

The following is an excerpt from a website called Convenience Store Decisions. Odd source for comic book news, I know, but it paid off big.
CSD spoke with Sean Sportun, ICPS manager, security & loss prevention for Mac’s Convenience Stores, about the many initiatives the chain is using to combat crime, and how a Harvard Business Study is assisting its efforts.
...
CSD: In (January) 2016 Mac’s offered a free comic book about fighting crime. What was the intention behind the comic book and what results did you see? Any plans for more?
SS: Captain Canuck is a very popular superhero in Canada. We are working with Crime Stoppers to develop a second edition of the “Captain Canuck meets Crime Stopper” comic book, which was a huge success last year. The purpose of the initiative was to generate awareness about the Crime Stoppers program into the many communities across Canada. Through our Mac’s locations, we provided 50 comic books in each one of our stores to promote the initiative, at no charge to our customers and within 2-3 days we were out of them.
Nice news right there. The creative team did a very nice job with this book.

Don't try too hard to squeeze this one in continuity; Judging from the uniform, we are reading "classic" Canuck, however Kebec and Redcoat are the modern version. If you must, tell yourself that it takes place prior to issue #1 and therefore prior to the Captain acquiring the armour.

Any Captain is good Captain but The Crime Stopper character himself is a pleasant surprise.  For starring in a promotional item for the Crime Stoppers program (and yes there are times when it reads like a commercial, inevitably), the character is laid out quite well. We know what drives him and we know why he's a good candidate for street-level crime fighting. A lot is accomplished in only a few pages.

The first issue is still available as part of a collector set on chapterhouse.ca if you missed it. And it sounds like you'll need to act quickly if you want to avoid missing the second issue, too, so heads up.
